Reaching the lost seems to be such a big task. I have always been very nervous about talking about my faith to others. That feeling hasn't been around lately, because I have been more vocal about what the Lord is doing in our lives. "For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline." 2 Tim 1:7 I am to do my best and not argue with people, because Paul says that will cause quarrels. So, keeping this in mind, I will speak and tell people about the Hope in Jesus, but I will not argue with them about it. Instead of quarreling I must be kind to everyone, able to teach, and not be resentful (vs 24). In those days "people will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God-having forms of godliness but denying its power." (vs 3:2-5) We are to "have NOTHING to do with them."(3:5) Just imagine all of this going on. It will be children against parents, brothers against brothers. We are to have nothing to with them. Them meaning even our loved ones that have lost their way and refuse to turn to God. We are to "flee the evil desires of youth, and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart."(vs2:22)
God gives us the the hope we need to survive from all of this, so we can keep our eye on the prize-eternal life. He gives us his Word, which is "God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." Paul charges us to preach the word and to be prepared in season and out. This is so true, because it takes the studying of God's word in the out season to survive the in times of a season. Paul also encourages us to rebuke and encourage with great patience and careful instruction.
The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and will bring me safely to his heavenly kingdom. (4:18) Amen!! Thank you Lord for being my savior, my Abba, my healer, my comforter, my protector. Without you I am nothing! Thank you God for your Word that allows peace to flow like a river in my soul. I lift up my body to you-ask for healing. I thank you for a painless night and morning. I look forward to the day of no pain at all. I pray for my family here and away. I ask that you give them the same peace that you have given me. Heal them of their infirmaries. Give them someone that will love them here on earth for who they are. Lord I want a pure heart, so when I call out to you you will know me. I desire your joy, righteousness, faith, love, and peace. I know that I can have these things with you, so thank you. I continue to pray for my children that you would raise them up to serve man and worship you-the one and only God. I pray that they will have hearts that are pure and holy. Protect them from evil and harm. I, also, continue to pray for my husband. Teach him, Lord, how to be the leader of our family. Allow me to be submissive to him as he is learning. Thank you for his willingness to work hard for our family. I pray that you give him longevity, success, and favor in his career. I thank you for all these things in advance and ask them in your precious son's name-Jesus. Amen.
